We have not completely ignore the image of tropical island, but this country offers much more than lies on the sand of a beach and into its clear waters enjoy its coral reefs. The forests of Madagascar form a vibrating mass of infinite branches, dripping and bouncing leaves and strange beasts just out of the surprises box from Mother Nature, lemurs, chameleons, periwinkle, baobabs, aloes, geckos, sifakas and octopus trees. Separated from the African continent for millions of years, its hardwood forests are the greatest joy for a naturalist: preserved oddities and developed characteristics that are not found anywhere else, and can be seen in a spectacular collection of accessible national parks. Madagascar is a land of romantic legends about pirates, mad queens, and adventurers. It is so close to the mainland, involving many of the African mind, but far enough away to develop their own charisma. The French influence is more than remarkable in its gastronomy and in tourism industry in general and combines with the orderly mind of Madagascar to make our stay more than pleasant, and despite everything, Madagascar remains the great unknown.
