MALACCA, Cheng Hoon Teng Temple

The most famous of Malacca's Chinatown, with considerable wood carvings, the Cheng Hoon Teng Temple is dedicated to Guanyin, piety goddess, dating to 1.646, making it the oldest temple in Malaysia.

It was built by Chinese craftsmen with imported materials from their country. At the main building entrance, a Guanyin effigy with garments, impacts the visitor with a black, red and gold colors explosion. People also pray at the Tianhou altar, navigators' goddess, located to the left of Guanyin.

Although it can not be compared to the much larger China temples, it remains a very venerable and sacred place.
