Asia  | 14/06/2014

Laos in antiquity was known as the land of a million elephants, and today it has become one of the most authentic destinations in Asia. Still, quiet, genuine people who smile from ear to ear, and hold true, traditions that remain pure through the ages.

One of the most important stops is Luang Prabang, a timeless city located between two rivers, the Mekong and Khan. Here we find many details of this genuine Asia. Hundreds of monks dressed in their saffron robes and opened umbrellas, to ward off the hot sun dwell here, living as they have done for centuries. Enjoy spectacular views from Mount Phousi, located in the city centre. Wander through wonderful temples such as Wat Sisaket which is the only one still intact after the Siamese invasion in 1828, or the That Luang, considered the most sacred place in Laos history.

French influences are highlighted with the cuisine and the range of accommodation available. Hire a bike, enjoy a cooking class, ride an elephant or relax with a massage. All these are activities that can perfectly complement a stay in Luang Prabang.
